Emma Blumenthal
Emma Blumenthal joined Skysong Innovations in April 2026 and serves as Assistant General Counsel. With expertise in intellectual property law and higher education governance, Emma advises clients on protecting, enforcing, and commercializing ASU’s innovations.
Prior to joining Skysong Innovations, Emma served as Associate General Counsel for the University of Arizona. There, she counseled senior leadership on a wide range of legal and strategic matters, including intellectual property, student affairs, employment, and constitutional law.
Before her work in higher education, Emma was an associate attorney at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Washington, D.C., where she advised clients on intellectual property litigation and transactional matters. She also served as an Attorney-Advisor and Barbara Ringer Copyright Honors Fellow at the U.S. Copyright Office. She began her legal career as a law clerk to Judge Richard Taranto of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Emma holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School. She attended the University of Arizona as a Flinn Scholar, where she earned a B.A. in History and Art History, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Emma is admitted to practice in Arizona, California, and the District of Columbia. She serves as Vice Chair for Programs of the American Bar Association’s Art & Cultural Heritage Law Committee and sits on the Book and Author Committee for the Tucson Festival of Books.
