Katherine (Katie) Grasso Bensalah
Manager of Intellectual Property
Katherine (Katie) Grasso Bensalah joined Skysong Innovations in October 2023 as Manager of Intellectual Property for Life Sciences. She works with ASU faculty and staff to advance ASU technologies into the marketplace by facilitating invention disclosures, evaluating technology, monitoring patent preparation and prosecution, and managing intellectual property.
Before joining the Skysong Innovations team, Katie worked as a registered patent agent at an Am Law 200 law firm based in Boston, in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, as well as freedom-to-operate and patentability analyses.
Katie has a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Rochester and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Boston College. At Boston College, she developed universal genetic code expansion platforms to engineer proteins in living systems and synthesized photocaged small molecule probes to interrogate activated tyrosine residues throughout the proteome. Katie is a co-author of four scientific publications, and a named inventor on two patent applications.
