Mason McCarty, J.D.
Assistant General Counsel
Mason McCarty joined Skysong Innovations in September 2022 and currently serves as Assistant General Counsel. Mr. McCarty’s principal areas of responsibility in the Office of General Counsel are licensing and technology transactions, compliance, complex commercial contracts, litigation, collaborations and affiliations, startup development, industry-sponsored research, and other general corporate counseling and advice. He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) and the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM).
Prior to joining Skysong Innovations, Mr. McCarty was an attorney at Messner Reeves, LLP and a member of the firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Labor & Employment practice groups. Mr. McCarty is admitted to practice in Arizona and U.S. Federal Court.
Mr. McCarty received his law degree from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where he completed an intellectual property emphasis, was a Willard H. Pedrick Scholar, served as Vice President of the Intellectual Property Student Association, and received a CALI Excellence for the Future Award in the Patent Litigation Clinic. Prior to his current role, Mason served as a Legal Intern at Skysong Innovations. Mr. McCarty received his B.S. in Biotechnology and Genetics from the University of Missouri and was a research assistant for a leading biotechnology firm where he was a named inventor on five U.S. patents.
