Modular Electroencephalogram Cart

EEG (Electroencephalogram) is a widely used tool for monitoring and recording electrical brain activity; aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological conditions such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, and brain injuries. While EEG technology has advanced significantly over the years, auxiliary equipment, such as EEG carts, have remained the same. For example, traditional EEG carts often lack design considerations for cleanliness and patient-friendly features, as well as comfort and ease of use for technicians.

Researchers in the Luminosity Lab at Arizona State University have developed a modular hospital EEG cart which is designed to enhance the functionality, adaptability, and usability of EEG testing in medical facilities. This cart incorporates a range of features to prioritize patient comfort as well streamline the testing process to improve technician efficiency and workload. A cleanable and user-friendly design ensures that patient hygiene is a top priority. Further, the modularity of this cart ensures that it can adapt to new components and innovations so that hospitals can stay up to date with the latest EEG equipment. A prototype of this cart has been successfully tested in a hospital setting.

With its prioritization of hygiene, patient comfort, technician efficiency and adaptability to future developments, this cart offers a comprehensive and long-lasting solution for EEG testing.
