Photoacoustic Cuvette Platform

Cuvettes, used to measure the absorbance of light in spectroscopy, are designed to hold a small volume of liquid sample and are optically transparent to allow light to pass through the sample. They are highly useful in spectrophotometry, fluorescence spectroscopy, UV spectroscopy and photoacoustic spectroscopy. While the optical characteristics of the cuvette are important, equally important is the stage or platform for the cuvette. The platform influences the quality of inputs and outputs as well as the reliability of measurements.

Researchers at Arizona State University have developed a novel photoacoustic cuvette mounting platform which allows for photoacoustic detection within a single glass cuvette. This platform enables a cuvette to be used for acoustic and optical detection and can be used in combination with transducers and objects of varying sizes. This mounting platform is capable of holding stationary any cuvette including standard square, round, beveled edge, etc. spectrometry cuvettes as well as semi-micro cuvettes, sub-micro cuvettes and macro cuvettes.

This novel cuvette platform is versatile and universal, allowing the use of any type of cuvette for standard and reliable measurements.
